Your Questions, Answered

I offer weekly 1:1 counselling sessions. Usually these are in person in my counselling room in Hove, Lewes or Steyning, but can also be online, on the phone or walking and talking.

I offer longer term and brief therapy, and we can discuss this during our initial conversation and reviews.

What can I expect from my first visit?

I know that the prospect of an initial counselling session can feel daunting, and I’ll do all I can to put you at ease and listen to you with compassion and curiosity. I’ll structure the conversation, ask you about yourself and what’s brought you to seek counselling, and will encourage you to tell me as much as you feel comfortable with. Through our initial conversations, we’ll work together to find the best way for you to move forward, and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

The first session is a chance for you to gain a sense of me and whether you’d like to work with me going forward, and so is of course ‘no-obligation’.

Initial sessions are the full 50 minutes, with a fee of £20.

In our sessions, though I’m sitting opposite you, I’m very much alongside you through your therapeutic journey. During this time we will build a relationship based on trust: once this has been established, I can support and gently challenge you in order to foster growth and deeper self-understanding.

I’m likely to introduce simple concepts relating to Transactional Analysis (TA) as I find these aid clients’ exploration and understanding of themselves and their relationships.

Whether we work longer or shorter term, I will invite opportunities to review where we are in the therapeutic process, so that you continue to get the most out of our work together.

What’s it like to work with you?

Generally, my fee is £65 per session. However, I do offer concessionary rates for those on lower incomes and am happy to discuss this with you.

An initial phonecall is offered free of charge, and I ask for £20 for our first session (50 minutes).

For more information, please read my fees page.
